Kundun

This biography of the Dalai Lama is a meditative which masterfully condenses all the obsessions of Martin Scorsese (film director.)

Tibet, 1933, the thirteenth Dalai Lama died. The little Lhamo lives with his family in a village. Strangers on the way to Lhasa, the capital, recognize him as the new Dalai Lama, Kundun.

Shortly after proclaiming the People's Republic of China, in 1949, Mao annex Tibet. On November 17, 1950, before his 18th birthday, the Dalai Lama officially became ruler. A troop escort to India. His exile begins.

Beyond its dazzling beauty, meditative film that combines all the filmmaker's obsessions: the loneliness of man, faith, grief, helplessness of the property, the inevitability of evil. Difficult to forget the terrible genocide plan monks. Around the Pacific Kundun, the blood spreads like a poison.
